Border Patrol and Air and Marine agents team up to seize marijuana in the Rio Grande Valley

LA ROSITA, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rio Grande City station thwarted a narcotic smuggling attempt just after midnight.

Agents working near La Rosita, Texas, observed several subjects near the riverbank of the Rio Grande. Agents responded to the area and encountered an abandoned Ford Explorer loaded with marijuana. With the assistance of an Air and Marine Operations asset, agents conducted a thorough search of the area and observed approximately 10 subjects on the Mexican side directly across the loaded vehicle.

Inside the vehicle, agents discovered nearly 500 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $385,000.00.
